The development of an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is the first step. The IPS serves as an outline and a planning tool that will improve the likelihood of an investor’s meeting his/her goals. Once created, the IPS should be reviewed annually to be certain it still meets the needs and objectives of the investor, or modified to do so.
